MIRJAM VAN BEEK is an innovative textiles artist, producing unique hand painted and printed works on silk and other natural fibres.
Mirjam creates beautiful home accessories, art pieces designed for the wall and stunning free-standing lighting that brings interior spaces to life – illuminating the wonderful palette of colours that are the signature of her work.
No two pieces are exactly the same – so you can be sure that in collecting her work, it will be special to you alone.
Inspiration comes from shape and structure, freely drawn from nature and from urban landscapes. Her work is full of subtle detail but infused with rich layers of colour – whether portrayed in cool earthy tones, greens, moody blues or vibrant sunset reds and oranges. You can choose from her existing range or she will work with you to produce a piece that fits perfectly in your home, or for you to give as a special gift.
Mirjam trained in her native Holland but has been living in the Borders of Scotland for eighteen years, where she works from her textiles studio. Her cultural background brings an understanding of contemporary European design which has infused with her love of Scottish culture and heritage, acquired since making the borderlands her home. She loves her garden and her studio window overlooks the myriad of flowers she plants for the summer and the big old pine tree, which stands proud on the hill where she lives.
